After the Fact

There is still that rare occasion where people decide to elope. Yesterday, a mom came in to share with us that her daughter decided to get married while in Las Vegas. The bride’s one regret, the bouquet she had to borrow at the chapel was plastic, not even silk, but plastic. Since both mom and daughter are flower lovers, mom asked us to put together a small bouquet for her daughter in honor of her marriage. So we designed a sweet, hand-tied bouquet of white daisies, cream roses and Attache roses, collared with white feathers and tied off with pink satin ribbon.
The bizarre twist to this whole story is that this couple has been together for 35 years, and now has finally tied the knot. Congratulations to Ken and Cathy!

Wright Marcus Wedding

While she might not think so, Heather Wright was, without a doubt, the most organized bride I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with.  We first met one year before her wedding, which frankly made me a little nervous, thinking “who needs this much time, and what am I getting myself into”.  But it turned out to be very well planned and organized.  And the fact that the date was after, and not on or before, Valentine’s Day was definitely in our favor.

She had already booked the historic Yorktowne Hotel in downtown York, PA with it’s gorgeous ballroom, which gave them ample space for both the ceremony and reception.

Her color choices of wine and white were also perfect, following Valentine’s Day, and allowed us to select flowers in those colors which would be in good supply, like white and wine calla and mini calla lilies and mokara orchids.Orchid Cake Topper

Booking the wedding a year out also gave us plenty of time to create custom silk pieces: the flower girl’s headpiece and kissing ball, and a throw to match the bridal bouquet.

So, in retrospect, while I may have initially been nervous, I more than appreciated the amount of time we had to create the perfect flowers for her special day.
